Lone Star Project Candidate Analysis
Barbara Nash – House District 93, Arlington/Mansfield
• Bankruptcy and bad management define her past.
• Dishonesty threatens her future.
From the outset, Barbara Nash was a risky candidate for Republicans in Arlington-based State House District 93. Typically, Republican candidates highlight their business acumen and management abilities. This approach is simply not credible for Nash. She has a relatively well-known history of business failure that includes bankruptcy, tax liens, unpaid bills and even charges of elder abuse in the nursing homes she managed.
Most damaging to Barbara Nash, though, is her extraordinary unwillingness to admit her business and professional failures and to simply tell the truth.

Barbara Nash Falsified an Official State Application
Barbara Nash applied for and was appointed to serve on the Trinity River Authority Board. As part of the application process, she was required to fill out a questionnaire detailing her past business and civic activities. This official state document stands as a startling indictment of Barbara Nash’s honesty and integrity. In her responses, Nash claims to have never been part of any litigation, bankruptcy, or state investigation despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The official application bears Nash’s signature certifying that all answers are “true, accurate, and complete.” (See Nash Application to Governor).
A detailed report specifying Barbara Nash’s false statements and providing facts rebutting her official responses is provided below.

Summary
At first blush, Barbara Nash might appear to be a suitable Republican nominee for the State House. However, her gross mismanagement of business affairs, her irresponsible treatment of the elderly and – most damaging – her inexcusable dishonesty in responding to questions on an official State document, likely disqualify Barbara Nash for consideration by responsible, fair-minded voters.
