Abbott’s Green Light to Predatory Lenders
Key AG document provided payday lenders a loophole to bilk Texans
Greg Abbott’s office issued the key document that has allowed payday lenders to operate outside of Texas usury laws and exploit Texans across our state. A letter issued from the office of the Attorney General carefully lays out that payday lenders in Texas can take advantage of a loophole used by credit service organizations to avoid Texas laws preventing unscrupulous lending. It is essentially a “how-to guide” for payday lenders to expand and grow their predatory lending businesses.

Abbott donors raked in over $42 million from CPRIT
Last week, the Lone Star Project released research exposing Attorney General Greg Abbott’s failure to fulfill his responsibilities as a member of the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) oversight board. Abbott looked the other way as taxpayer dollars were given away to businesses whose grant requests received low review scores or were not reviewed at all.

Greg Abbott clearly won’t apologize for appearing publicly with his “blood brother” Ted Nugent. Apparently, Abbott and his campaign team see Nugent’s admission that he was “addicted” to sex with underage girls as no big deal.

Abbott’s West Texas agent worked on partisan voter fraud investigation instead of child abuse
In separate testimony yesterday before the Joint Select Committee on Operation and Management of the Texas Youth Commission, a representative of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and a Texas Ranger investigator confirmed that both agencies were aware of the alleged sexual abuse of juveniles under state care, yet failed to act.

Abbott “fights to help Texas women” – FALSE
Yesterday, in El Paso, Greg Abbott made a broad statement: “I’m proud to say there is nobody in the state of Texas who has done more to fight to help women than I have in the past decade.” Abbott’s words are not just hyperbole, they are fundamentally dishonest.
